End := Beginning;

At approximately 11:32 BST today (23/05/11), I walked out of the exam hall in the Cassie Bulding (room 3.25) having completed the last piece of my university degree. For the past two years and eight months, my life has been dedicated (?!) to the scientific study of language.

Now, clinging on to any last hopes of getting a 2:1 degree, I'm working out what direction to make my life in over the next fifty years. Maybe I will carry this on until 2060 in some abstract state and publish my memoirs as the journalist who finally wiped the smug bastard that is Andrew Marr off the BBC for good. Maybe I'll just be working at the local taxi rank. I don't know. This is my input and I know my output. Time to work out what's inside the black box that processes my life.

This blog is largely for my own sanity and to track my progress (or lack of) mainly over the coming months of desperate unemployment. Read if you feel inclined, an aim is also to provide some form of port of call for any people daunted by their own future graduation.

Also, three years of academic referencing has taught me not to plagarise, all inspiration goes to my former Courier editor Chris Mandle, whose blog you can follow here: http://cmandle.blogspot.com/

(Note: The name project : laika; derives from the first dog to orbit the Earth, sent into space by the Soviet Union in 1957. I've wittily (or not...) embedded it into a PASCAL command, which I've learned way too much of in my Computational Linguistics module over the last three months.)
